Day 4

WOW!!! What a difference a day makes! I woke up this morning euphoric!

I feel great, energized, and proud of myself. I had a meeting last nite and stayed away from the chocolate, wine, and tortilla chips…not even a taste!

My day began as usual – hot lemon water, meditation, journaling, visualization; but it all seemed clearer and brighter. I got so much accomplished before getting myself and my son ready for school, it’s like I was more focused and intent. I didn’t dread my shake so much and actually enjoyed it. Took my other son to an indoor playground and let him burn off some energy. I didn’t drink water the whole time we were there (naughty!), but I didn’t even feel hungry or the need to snack. In fact, I didn’t have my next shake until 2pm. I decided to get creative and made a delicious shake that tastes like Ginger Snaps! This one is definitely going in the rotation! I’ve shared the recipe with you below.

The rest of the day was busy – 1 son didn’t nap (so mommy didn’t get any down time), then playtime outside while I strung twinkle lights in the backyard, resulting in bathtime for 2 boys that always seem to find a way to submerge themselves in dirt whenever they are outside, got ready for a local concert in the park featuring an 80’s cover band (so fun!), then hauled my 2 monkeys to the park where we ate, enjoyed music, and they ran around with new friends, back home for storytime and bedtime before mama got to wash her face, put on a mud mask and a movie in bed…and all without a fizz! Which I think is pretty impressive. I thought about having one at 3p because I felt a little bit of the sleepies coming on, but then I forgot because I was busy with so many other things. I had so much natural energy that I didn’t even need it!

My guess is that it took 3 days for me to get over the hump of detoxing. My body has been drudging up all the stored toxins from the environment and the food I was eating/drinking, leaving me tired, cranky, and depleted. I use clean personal care products and eat relatively clean (free from most inflammatory foods), so I feel like this process happened relatively quickly for me. Now, I’m in a state of repair and renewal…my body is learning to accept this new way of eating and appreciation of fresh flavors with clarity and joy and I am loving it! Stay with me on this journey as I explore new recipes for eating clean…and enjoy this Frozen Ginger Snap shake!
